A Summer of Stories and Self-Expression: British Council Presents ‘Creative Summers for Kids’ in Kolkata

Kolkata, May 06: The British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, presents ‘Creative Summers for Kids’, a specially curated summer programme for children aged 6–15 years. Taking place from 18-22 May 2026 at the British Council Library in Kolkata, the programme invites young learners to explore a summer of stories and expression.

Designed as an engaging holiday activity, Creative Summers blends reading, storytelling, craft, and interactive sessions to spark imagination, creativity, and confidence among young participants. With activities tailored across age groups, the programme offers a safe and enriching space for children to explore ideas, express themselves, and showcase their creativity.

In line with the British Council’s commitment to promoting reading and creative expression, and as 2026 marks the UK’s National Year of Reading, Creative Summers encourages children to ‘Go All In’ – discovering the joy of stories, imagination, and self-expression in a fun and collaborative environment.

  • Registrations are open from 18 April 2026
  • Programme Dates: 18–22 May
  • Registrations close on 16 May

Participation Fee: These are standalone sessions and children can register for multiple sessions at a time.

  • Library Members: ₹300 / ₹ 500 per session. (fees vary by age groups)
  • Non-members: ₹600 / ₹ 800 per session. (fees vary by age groups)

Structure

  • Daily sessions combining reading, craft, and storytelling, confidence building and much more
  • Activities tailored by age groups (6–7, 8 – 9, 10–12, 13–15)
  • Mix of individual and group-based activities
  • Includes Create & Showcase elements (presentations, performances, displays)
