Hungama OTT launched its latest crime drama, Zung, a gripping crime drama that premiered on 18 March 2026. Set against the stark, unforgiving landscape of the Alang Ship Breaking Yard in Gujarat, the series brings together a story steeped in betrayal, survival and buried truths.

At the heart of Zung is Kaveri, a lonely housewife stuck in a loveless marriage with her quiet, unassuming husband Bakul. In search of an emotional escape, she begins a secret relationship with a scrapyard worker. What begins as a fleeting moment of connection quickly spirals into blackmail, pulling her into a dangerous spiral of crime, manipulation and murder. As the situation intensifies, the investigation is led by Inspector Sarthak, a man who shares a complicated past with Kaveri. With every layer he uncovers, the truth grows darker. What emerges is a chilling revelation — Kaveri has been unknowingly caught in a far larger game, one orchestrated by her own husband, who is secretly running a powerful drug empire and using her as a pawn to eliminate his enemies.
As loyalties fracture and danger closes in, Kaveri is forced to confront the reality of her circumstances. Pushed to the edge, she makes a choice that changes everything — stepping out of the shadows and into a final, deadly confrontation in the heart of the Alang shipyard, where survival comes at its ultimate cost.
Pavitra Punia, who essays the role of Kaveri, said,
“Kaveri is an incredibly layered character who goes through a very intense emotional journey. At first, she appears vulnerable and trapped in circumstances beyond her control, but as the story unfolds, her resilience begins to shape. What drew me to this role was how the narrative explores a woman’s fight for freedom and survival in a world filled with betrayal, manipulation and danger.”
Zohaib Ashraf, who portrays Sarthak, the police officer leading the investigation, added,
“Zung is a gripping crime thriller that keeps audiences guessing at every turn. Playing a police officer in a story filled with secrets, betrayal and unexpected twists made it both challenging and exciting. What makes the show particularly compelling is how the investigation gradually unravels a much deeper and darker truth keeps raising the stakes.”
Sandeep Anand, who plays Bakul’s business partner Nakul, shared,
“My character, Nakul, is closely connected to the larger world of power and crime that unfolds in the story. What I found most fascinating about Zung is how every character has layers and hidden motives. The narrative constantly shifts, and viewers will realize that things are never as simple as they first appear.”
Aabhaas Mehta, who plays Bakul, Kaveri’s husband, reflected,
“Bakul is a very intriguing character because he appears calm and ordinary on the surface, but there is much more going on beneath that quiet exterior. Portraying a character with such complexity was a challenge that was exhilarating. The story takes viewers on a journey of deception, power and revenge, and I believe audiences will be surprised by how everything eventually unfolds.”
Blending suspense with emotional conflict and high-stakes drama, Zung explores themes of power, betrayal and resilience, all set within one of the most visually and emotionally striking backdrops in the country.
