For Gowthami G.N., education had always represented the possibility of a better future. However, after completing Class 12, financial realities at home forced her to put those aspirations on hold. Coming from a family that relied on agricultural labour for its livelihood, continuing her studies was not financially feasible.

Like many young people in rural communities, Gowthami found herself at a crossroads. While she was eager to build a career and support her family, she lacked access to the skills and training needed to secure formal employment.

The opportunity to transform her ambition into practical action came through the Adani Skill Development Centre . Gowthami enrolled in their Retail Sales Associate course, where she underwent two-and-a-half months of structured training designed to equip participants with industry-relevant knowledge, customer service skills and workplace readiness.

The programme helped her develop practical competencies while also strengthening her confidence and professional outlook. With guidance from the ASDC team and the skills she acquired during the training, Gowthami was able to prepare herself for employment in the organised retail sector.

Her efforts soon translated into results. Upon completing the programme, Gowthami secured a job in the retail sector with an annual salary of Rs. 2.25 lakh. For her and her family, this achievement marked a significant milestone, creating a stable source of income, paving the way towards greater financial security.

Reflecting on her journey, Gowthami says,

“ASDC gave me the chance to learn new skills and build a better future.”

Today, Gowthami’s story stands as an example of how skill development can help young people overcome economic barriers and create opportunities for themselves. For Adani Foundation at ACC Thondebhavi, her success demonstrates the impact of investing in employability and empowering rural youth with the tools they need to succeed. Her journey is a reminder that with the right support, aspirations that once seemed unattainable can become achievable realities.
