World Environment Day: Leaders Join ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Tree Plantation Drive

June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, ministers, Members of Parliament, and public representatives participated in a nationwide tree plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, reinforcing the collective commitment to environmental conservation.

The campaign, which encourages citizens to plant trees in honour of their mothers, witnessed active participation across multiple locations, with saplings planted in public spaces, parks, and community areas.

Leaders emphasized the importance of increasing green cover, improving air quality, and promoting sustainable living practices as part of India’s broader climate action efforts. The initiative also seeks to inspire citizens to take personal responsibility for environmental protection through symbolic and meaningful action.

Officials said the drive reflects growing public awareness about climate change and the need for large-scale afforestation to ensure a cleaner and healthier future for coming generations.
