Chandigarh, 8 Apr: ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, in collaboration with Adani Foundation, has brought sustainable irrigation to the farmers of Kanoun village, Bilaspur. As part of the Dhounkothi Panjgain Watershed Project, the team facilitated the construction of a 60-cubic metre water storage tank, enabling easy access to water drawn from a nearby nala and spring.

Until recently, farmers like Praveen Kumar struggled to irrigate their fields due to the difficulty of lifting water from the nala and the lack of reliable storage. With the new tank, he now irrigates nearly 1 hectare of land, cultivates high-value crops like garlic and arbi, and has planted 80 fruit-bearing trees. His is now able to generate an additional income of Rs. 24,000 across multiple crops, reflecting how dependable water access can transform rural livelihoods.

This initiative, benefiting six farmers in total, is a testament to ACC and Adani Foundation’s commitment to empowering communities through practical, sustainable interventions. By turning everyday challenges into opportunities, they are helping build self-reliant, future-ready villages.
