New Delhi, Oct 05: AI may be taught as a technology, but its applications are often shaped by the problems it is used to address. That raises a practical question for India’s future-ready workforce: what happens when that knowledge leaves the classroom?

From Learning About AI To Building with It: Maharashtra Girl transforms her AI journey with Samsung Innovation Campus

For Sunidhishree Prabakaran, a final-year Computer Engineering student at D. Y. Patil’s Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Mumbai, that transition began through Samsung Innovation Campus, Samsung’s flagship future-tech skilling programme which equips young people aged 18-25 years old, with industry-relevant AI skills, hands-on learning and practical exposure for careers in emerging technologies.

Sunidhishree entered SIC with a strong interest in AI, Machine Learning and emerging technologies, where she explored how AI could be applied beyond academic projects.

“Samsung Innovation Campus gave me practical exposure to AI and helped me apply theoretical concepts to real-world applications. The program strengthened my confidence and motivated me to keep learning and innovating,” she said.

Today, that learning is visible in the work she has pursued across healthcare, agriculture and clinical research. She has presented her work at the 2nd International Conference on AI-driven Human-Centric Solutions and Sustainable Transformation, the International Conference on Advancing Technology in Engineering and Science, and the International Conference on Communication, Computing and Data Security , alongside participating in hackathons.

She has also secured a placement opportunity and is exploring SAP alongside her AI skills as she prepares for the next stage of her career.

“SIC was not simply a course I completed. It became a steppingstone — from being interested in AI to confidently building with it, presenting my ideas and preparing myself for the opportunities ahead,” she said.

Sunidhishree’s journey reflects the role of structured skilling in helping young people move from learning about AI to exploring what they can build with it.

As Samsung marks 30 years in India, Samsung Innovation Campus is helping expand opportunities for young women to participate in India’s growing AI economy. By combining industry-focused learning with practical experience, the program is enabling aspiring women technologists to build meaningful careers while contributing to a more inclusive and future-ready digital workforce.
