Mumbai, Sep 18: The Wealth Company, part of Pantomath Group, has partnered with the International College of Financial Planning, promoted by the Bajaj Capital Group, for the Applied Certification in Wealth and Financial Planning, an initiative aimed at strengthening the financial-planning knowledge and professional capabilities of Mutual Fund Distributors  across India.

The Wealth Company and ICOFP Partner to Strengthen Financial Planning Skills of India’s MFD Community

The initiative reflects The Wealth Company’s focus on helping in spreading the knowledge and skill development of India’s MFD community, recognizing that the next phase of growth in the mutual fund industry will require not only greater investor participation, but also a stronger and better-equipped distribution ecosystem. Participants will learn to align the right investment solutions with each client’s financial goals and risk profile, while also learning to use AI productively through a “verify before send” framework, alongside other practical tools and skills to enhance client engagement and decision-making.

India’s mutual fund industry has grown rapidly in both scale and reach. As of August 31, 2026, industry AUM stood at ₹87.08 lakh crore, with 28.35 crore folios, while monthly SIP contributions reached ₹32,297 crore in August 2026.

As household participation in financial assets expands, the role of the MFD is also evolving. Beyond facilitating investment transactions and helping investors navigate products, MFDs increasingly need the capabilities to understand financial goals, risk profiles, time horizons and changing life-stage requirements, and translate these into more meaningful investor conversations.

Ms. Madhu Lunawat, Founder MD & CEO, The Wealth Company, said,
“MFDs are among the closest financial partners of investors across India. As household wealth and financial participation grow, equipping them with stronger financial-planning knowledge and practical skills can meaningfully improve investor conversations and outcomes. Our objective in this program is to help our partners build a knowledgeable and empowered distribution ecosystem focused on long-term investor prosperity.”
The ACWFP has been designed for practicing MFDs, combining structured learning in financial planning with practical capabilities in client communication, financial storytelling and presentation. The programme seeks to help MFDs translate financial knowledge into more effective client engagement and progressively strengthen their role as trusted financial-planning partners.

For The Wealth Company, the partnership represents a broader philosophy of investing in the professional development of the distribution ecosystem, rather than viewing distribution relationships purely through the lens of product sales.

Mr. Debasish Mohanty, Managing Director & Chief Strategy Officer, The Wealth Company, said,
“The future of distribution will increasingly be shaped by the quality of knowledge and skills MFDs bring to investor relationships. Making quality financial-planning education practical, accessible and affordable can create a multiplier effect better-equipped distributors, better-informed investors and stronger financial outcomes for Indian households.”
The partnership combines The Wealth Company’s focus on strengthening the distribution ecosystem with ICOFP’s more than two decades of experience in financial-planning and wealth-management education. Established in 2002, ICOFP is India’s first Financial Planning Education Provider and has built a community of 20,000+ alumni across the financial-services industry.

Ms. JaiVani Bajaj, Chief Mentor, ICOFP, said,
“As India creates and invests wealth at an unprecedented scale, the MFD’s role is evolving from facilitating investments to becoming a trusted partner in the client’s financial journey. Through ACWFP, we are pleased to partner with The Wealth Company to support that evolution through structured and practical learning.”
Mr. Bijoy Dey, CEO, ICOFP, added,
“ACWFP brings ICOFP’s two decades of financial-planning education experience to practicing MFDs. The programme provides a structured and credentialed pathway to strengthen financial-planning knowledge alongside the communication, storytelling and presentation capabilities required to engage clients more effectively.”
The initiative also recognizes the important role MFDs play in expanding financial participation beyond major metropolitan markets. Strengthening their ability to engage investors around goals, risk and long-term financial needs can help deepen investor relationships and encourage more disciplined participation in financial markets.

The ACWFP partnership builds on The Wealth Company’s wider focus on distribution capability-building and continuous professional development. The Wealth Company has undertaken multiple initiatives to provide its distribution partners access to high-quality learning and upskilling opportunities, including programmes and courses from institutions such as Harvard and Moody’s. Together, these initiatives reflect The Wealth Company’s approach of going beyond product engagement to invest in the knowledge, skills and long-term professional development of its distribution partners.
