Bengaluru, Oct 28: STEER World, a global leader in advanced materials platform technologies and engineering solutions, has been recognised at the 6th India Green Energy Awards 2026 in the CBG Equipment Manufacturer category, acknowledging its contribution to advancing India's Compressed Biogas ecosystem through indigenous engineering and innovative biomass processing technologies.

Nitin Gupta, Global CEO and Executive Director, STEER World, received the award from Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, at a ceremony held on October 14, 2026, at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan, New Delhi.
The recognition comes at a significant stage in STEER's journey in the CBG sector. Over the past 18 months, the company has focused on addressing one of the industry's critical operational challenges: the efficient processing of fibrous agricultural residues before they enter biogas digesters. Its proprietary netiBIO technology has become a key part of this effort, with more than 130 processing lines currently under execution and over half already operational.
Biomass pretreatment remains a significant challenge for CBG developers, particularly when handling agricultural residues such as paddy straw and Napier grass. Differences in fibre characteristics, moisture content, silica levels and abrasive properties can affect processing efficiency, equipment reliability and overall plant performance. Inadequate pretreatment can also lead to digester blockages, lower conversion efficiency and suboptimal gas output.
STEER's netiBIO technology has been engineered to address these challenges through an understanding of Indian biomass characteristics, equipment design and metallurgy. The company's solutions include a Napier grass processing line operating at a capacity of over 12 tonnes per hour, demonstrating its ability to process challenging feedstock at an industrial scale while focusing on operating efficiency and reliability.
Commenting on the recognition, Nitin Gupta, Global CEO and Executive Director, STEER World, said,
"This recognition is particularly meaningful because it reflects the progress we have made in addressing a fundamental challenge in India's CBG ecosystem. When we entered this sector, we recognised that processing agricultural residues efficiently required much more than conventional equipment. It demanded a deep understanding of the materials, their behaviour and the operating realities of CBG plants in India.”
“Our journey with netiBIO over the past 18 months has involved extensive engineering, on-ground learning and collaboration with customers. With over 130 lines under execution and more than half already operational, we are encouraged by the progress we have made. This award is a recognition of the commitment of our engineering and site teams, who continue to work towards making biomass processing more efficient, reliable and commercially viable",added Nitin.
The development and deployment of netiBIO have also involved overcoming practical challenges associated with commissioning and operating equipment in rural locations, often far from established industrial infrastructure. STEER's engineering and service teams have worked closely with project developers to address site-specific requirements and operational complexities.
As India accelerates its transition towards cleaner energy and greater utilisation of agricultural residues, reliable biomass processing technologies will play an important role in improving the operational performance and commercial viability of CBG projects. Through continued innovation and technology deployment, STEER aims to contribute to the development of a more efficient and scalable CBG ecosystem.
