Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: Odisha has given a fresh push to industrial development by approving 14 investment proposals worth Rs 2,780.10 crore, with the projects expected to create around 14,104 employment opportunities across the state.

The proposals were cleared at the 149th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg. The approvals cover sectors including food processing, textiles and apparel, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, electronics, steel and infrastructure.

The investments are planned across several districts, including Angul, Balangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Khordha, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sundargarh, helping spread industrial activity and employment beyond the state's traditional industrial centres.

Among the major projects is a Rs 500 crore snacks and baked-products manufacturing unit proposed by Haldiram Snacks Food Private Limited, which is expected to provide around 800 jobs.

The textile sector is set to receive a significant boost through a Rs 251.45 crore garment manufacturing project in Dhenkanal, focused on knitted clothing for babies and children. The project is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs, making it one of the largest employment-generating proposals cleared in this round.

Other major investments include a Rs 450 crore phosphorous-based derivatives plant in Ganjam, a Rs 300 crore electronics manufacturing facility in Khordha, and a Rs 405.35 crore railway siding project in Angul.

The approvals also include investments in cattle feed, textile processing, bulk drug intermediates, medical devices, ferro alloys and steel downstream products. These projects are expected to strengthen local manufacturing and encourage greater value addition within Odisha.

The latest investment approvals are part of the state's broader Samruddha Odisha 2036 vision, which focuses on industrial expansion, job creation, value-added manufacturing and balanced regional development.

With new projects coming up across multiple sectors and districts, the investment push is expected to generate employment, strengthen local supply chains and create fresh opportunities for businesses and communities across Odisha.
