Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: Odisha is likely to experience more spells of heavy rainfall over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in several parts of the state until August 31.

Odisha Braces for More Heavy Rain as IMD Issues Warning Till August 31

The IMD Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued weather alerts, warning that some districts could receive intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

The continued wet spell comes as several parts of Odisha have already received substantial rainfall, raising concerns over waterlogging, localised flooding and disruption to normal life in vulnerable areas.

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone locations have been advised to remain alert and follow weather updates issued by the authorities. People are also urged to exercise caution during thunderstorms and lightning and avoid taking shelter under isolated trees or near open areas.

Farmers and those working outdoors are advised to keep track of local weather conditions, particularly during periods of lightning and strong winds.

With the possibility of further heavy rainfall, district administrations and relevant agencies are expected to remain prepared to respond to situations such as waterlogging, road disruption and other rain-related emergencies.

The weather situation will continue to be monitored closely as Odisha heads towards the final week of August.
