New Delhi, July 17: Daman has received its first direct flight connection from Delhi under the government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), marking a significant step towards improving air access and strengthening regional connectivity.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu highlighted the development as a milestone in expanding affordable air travel opportunities and connecting smaller cities and regions with major urban centres.

The new route is expected to improve travel convenience for passengers, support tourism, enhance business opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth. The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on making air travel more accessible across the country.

The UDAN scheme aims to connect underserved and unserved airports, enabling more people to access air transportation while promoting balanced regional development.

Officials said the addition of the Delhi-Daman route will further integrate the region into India’s growing aviation network and create new opportunities for trade, tourism and local development.

The launch reinforces the government’s commitment to expanding aviation infrastructure and ensuring that air connectivity reaches more communities across India.
