Jammu, Aug 6: The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed from Jammu on Thursday after a one-day suspension, with authorities restoring the pilgrimage movement following enhanced security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir.

The temporary halt was imposed as security agencies stepped up vigilance in view of the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which marked a significant constitutional change in the region. Authorities increased security deployments, carried out additional checks and monitored sensitive areas to maintain law and order during the occasion.

After reviewing the security situation, officials allowed the pilgrimage to continue, ensuring that devotees could proceed towards the holy cave shrine under adequate protection.

The resumption of the yatra brought relief to thousands of pilgrims waiting to continue their spiritual journey. Security forces and local administration teams remain deployed along the routes to ensure the safe movement of devotees and prevent any untoward incidents.

The Amarnath Yatra attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year, who undertake the challenging journey to offer prayers at the naturally formed Ice Lingam at the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir.
