Chennai, July 27: As cancer care transitions from traditional treatment methods to personalised therapies, over 250 oncologists, surgeons, radiation specialists and researchers from India and abroad convened in Chennai for the VS International Precision Oncology Summit to discuss the latest advancements that are reshaping cancer care.

This three day international summit organised by VS Hospital and VS Medical Trust, with the theme “Precision Meets Progress” served as a platform for scientific knowledge exchange that redefines cancer diagnosis, treatment planning and patient outcomes.

The rising incidence of cancer has emerged as one of India's biggest healthcare challenges. Experts emphasised that advances in molecular diagnostics, genomics, targeted therapies and multidisciplinary treatment planning are enabling clinicians to move beyond the traditional "one-treatment-fits-all" approach and deliver highly personalised cancer care tailored to each patient's disease biology.

International and national faculties and experts in the field of medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, haemato-oncology, onco-pathology and head and neck oncology discussed how precision oncology is enabling clinicians to move beyond traditional treatment approach and offer personalised and precision-guided treatment strategies to suit each patient’s cancer.

The programme featured discussions on advanced molecular diagnostics, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, precision radiation techniques, minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, organ preservation strategies, multidisciplinary tumour board approaches and personalised treatment strategies. Faculty members also discussed complex clinical cases and shared knowledge on evidence based approaches that are improving treatment outcomes all over the world.

Addressing the audience as Chief Guest, Padma Shri Dr. Ravi Kannan, Director of Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Center, Assam, emphasised that precision Oncology is the need of the hour for patients in India and such scientific advancements must ultimately translate into patient-centric care.

Prof. Dr. S. Subramanian, Program Director and Organising Chairperson of VIPOS 2026 and one of India’s senior-most practising medical oncologists, said:
