Centre for Sight Gurugram Introduces the City's First FEMTO LDV Z8 for Advanced Laser Cataract Surgery and CLEAR Flapless Vision Correction

HealthK Puspa05 Nov 2026

Gurugram, Nov 05: Centre for Sight Gurugram today announced the launch of the FEMTO LDV Z8 at its M2K Corporate Park centre in Sector 51, Gurugram, an advanced Swiss femtosecond laser platform for cataract surgery and refractive vision correction, making the technology available in Gurugram for the first time.

News - CFS introduces City's First FEMTO LDV Z8 for Advanced Laser Cataract Surgery

Introduced through a mobile deployment, the FEMTO LDV Z8 brings advanced surgical technology to Gurugram, enabling patients to access modern laser-assisted cataract surgery and CLEAR (Corneal Lenticule Extraction for Advanced Refractive Correction), a flapless laser vision correction procedure.

With this launch, patients across Gurugram and surrounding areas of Delhi-NCR can access advanced laser-assisted eye care closer to home, reducing the need to travel to other cities for specialised technology-driven treatment.

Speaking about the significance of the technology, Prof. (Dr.) Mahipal S. Sachdev, Chairman and Medical Director, Centre for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals, said

"Vision care is becoming increasingly important as the global burden of refractive errors continues to rise. Research estimates that by 2050, nearly 50% of the world's population could be myopic, highlighting the growing need for comprehensive eye care and advanced vision correction solutions. The introduction of the FEMTO LDV Z8 at our M2K Gurugram centre, supporting advanced laser cataract surgery and CLEAR flapless vision correction, is another important step in our journey of bringing modern eye care closer to communities. Our focus remains on combining advanced technology with clinical expertise to make precise and personalised eye care more accessible across India."

Dr. Shankar Narang, CEO, Centre for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals, said

"At Centre for Sight, our focus is on making advanced eye care accessible to patients across different communities. The introduction of the FEMTO LDV Z8 at M2K Gurugram through our mobile technology initiative is another step towards this commitment. By bringing laser-assisted cataract surgery and CLEAR flapless vision correction closer to patients, we are expanding access to modern treatment options while maintaining our focus on clinical standards and patient safety. As we continue to strengthen our presence across India, our priority remains to combine technological innovation, experienced medical professionals and patient-centric care to deliver quality eye care."

Lt Col (Dr.) Satinder Singh Mann (Retd.), Senior Consultant – Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery, Centre for Sight, said

"Cataract surgery has evolved significantly with the introduction of femtosecond laser technology and advanced intraocular lenses. The FEMTO LDV Z8 supports greater precision in critical surgical steps such as corneal incisions, capsulotomy and lens fragmentation, allowing us to plan treatment according to each patient's eye characteristics. When combined with suitable intraocular lens options, including toric, multifocal, trifocal and EDOF lenses, this approach enables personalised cataract surgery based on individual visual needs. Bringing this technology to M2K Gurugram further strengthens our ability to offer advanced cataract care closer to home."

Dr. (Wg Cdr) Sapna Raina (Retd.), Senior Consultant – Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Centre for Sight, said

"Laser vision correction has progressed considerably, offering patients advanced options to reduce their dependence on spectacles and contact lenses. With the FEMTO LDV Z8, we are introducing CLEAR, a flapless refractive procedure in which a precisely created corneal lenticule is removed through a small incision to correct eligible refractive errors such as myopia and astigmatism. The technology supports precise surgical planning based on individual corneal characteristics and visual requirements. CLEAR adds another option to Centre for Sight's comprehensive refractive portfolio, alongside established procedures such as SILK, SMILE, Contoura Vision and ICL. The choice of procedure continues to depend on detailed clinical evaluation and patient suitability."

Dr. Shalini Singh, Cataract, Retina and Uvea Specialist, Centre for Sight, said

"The introduction of the FEMTO LDV Z8 at M2K Gurugram further strengthens access to advanced laser-assisted cataract surgery and CLEAR flapless vision correction, bringing precision-led eye care and personalised treatment options closer to patients in the region."

Developed by Switzerland-based Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems, the FEMTO LDV Z8 combines low-energy femtosecond laser technology, integrated imaging and precise surgical planning to enhance ophthalmic procedures. In cataract surgery, it supports precise corneal incisions, capsulotomy and lens fragmentation, complementing advanced intraocular lenses for personalised treatment. The platform also enables CLEAR, a flapless laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea by removing a precisely created lenticule through a small incision. Suitable patients may benefit from this minimally invasive approach to correcting myopia and certain cases of astigmatism, following comprehensive eye evaluation.

Centre for Sight continues to advance refractive surgery across Delhi-NCR through technologies including InnovEyes, Contoura Vision, SILK and SMILE. The FEMTO LDV Z8 in Gurugram strengthens these capabilities, offering laser-assisted cataract surgery and CLEAR flapless vision correction, alongside comprehensive eye care across multiple ophthalmic specialities.
