New Delhi, Sep 30: Singer and songwriter Viraj Bahri presented the first edition of The Aangan, his invitation-only live format, at Stainless Art Gallery, New Friends Colony, New Delhi, on Saturday, 8 August 2026. For one evening, the white-walled gallery became a courtyard, bringing together live Hindi music, contemporary art and a room of guests invited by name.
At the heart of a traditional Indian home is the open courtyard that the rooms gather around: the aangan, where music, art and hospitality naturally live together. Viraj founded The Aangan to carry that feeling into spaces you would least expect.
Edition One opened with an exhibition presented with Ojas Art, led by gallerist Anubhav Nath. Guests moved through the art before gathering close around Viraj and his seven-piece ensemble for a single, unbroken set, with event decor by Punit Jasuja.
The set featured the live premiere of two original compositions alongside three unreleased reinterpretations. The performance was filmed in its entirety and is being released as an ongoing YouTube series. The first song from the evening, Tum Ko Dekha, released on 19 September and has already crossed 200,000 views.
Talking about the evening, Viraj Bahri said:
"The aangan in a traditional Indian home was where the family drifted back at the end of the day. Walls on all sides, nothing above but sky. I wanted to create an experience that embodies a similar kind of warmth, where people bond over music, art and food. On the 8th, somewhere between the first held silence and the last conversation of the night, the gallery became exactly that room. This was the first edition. The courtyard travels from here."
The guest list included artists, designers, musicians, collectors and cultural tastemakers for an evening spent close to the music. The second edition of The Aangan follows later this year.
