Sehore, Sep 25: VIT Bhopal University is all set to host its 7th Annual Convocation on October 3, 2026, celebrating the academic achievements of its graduating students as they embark on the next phase of their professional and personal journeys.
The occasion will be graced by General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM Retd., former Chief of Army Staff, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director, Promotion Directorate, IN-SPACe, as the Guest of Honour. The convocation ceremony will be held under the leadership of Dr. G. Viswanathan, Chancellor, VIT Bhopal University; Dr. Sankar Viswanathan, Vice President; Ms. Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Assistant Vice President; Ms. Ramani Balasundaram, Trustee; Prof. Satish Kumar Modh, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Gyan Prakash Mishra, Registrar, and Dr. T. B. Sridharan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, VIT Bhopal University.
General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM (Retd.), served as the 30th Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, and was the Architect of Operation Sindoor. During his distinguished career, he also served as Vice Chief of the Army Staff and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, bringing extensive experience in military leadership, national security and strategic affairs.
Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director, Promotion Directorate at the Indian National Space Promotion & Authorisation Centre, Department of Space, has played an active role in shaping India’s commercial space sector. In his role, he has led efforts towards developing the decadal vision and strategy for the Indian commercial space sector and expanding India’s global footprint. His work also spans space technology education and skill development, including the development of a minor degree curriculum in space technology and short-term skill development courses for industry and academia.
The 7th Annual Convocation will confer a total of 3,571 graduands with degrees across various disciplines. This includes 2,978 undergraduate students, 392 postgraduate students and 38 PhD scholars, along with 163 previous year graduands. The graduating cohort comprises students from programmes across engineering, technology, management and architecture, reflecting the University's multidisciplinary academic offerings.
Thirty-five rank holders and Twenty-one meritorious students are set to receive Gold Medals across various programmes, this year. The Gold Medal recipients include students from programmes such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Science and Engineering specialisations, VLSI Design, Aerospace Engineering, Bio Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and specializations, Bachelor and Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Architecture, Integrated Programmes, among others.
The convocation will also celebrate the achievements of 27 students graduating under the University's STARSScheme. Launched to expand access to quality higher education for meritorious students from rural and underserved backgrounds in Madhya Pradesh, the scheme provides selected district toppers from government schools with fully funded higher education opportunities, including education, accommodation and meals.
Prescribed dress code for the convocation includes male graduands wearing cream-coloured kurtas with white pyjamas and female graduands wearing cream-coloured kurtas with white churidar/salwar or off-white sarees with golden borders.
