New Delhi, Aug 13: India’s healthcare sector is witnessing a growing demand for skilled Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs), with increasing emphasis on strengthening diagnosis, treatment and patient care. According to estimates by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the World Health Organization (WHO), India is facing a shortage of over 8 million AHPs and nurses. Recognising the need to address the gap, the Union Budget 2026-27 announced plans to add more AHPs to the workforce in the next five years. Through this effort, the government underlined the importance of expanding access to healthcare education and vocational training.
Aligned with the national agenda, Monica Sarin Foundation (MSF) has entered a strategic collaboration with Mangalayatan University, Aligarh, to offer an Advance Diploma-level Allied Healthcare program, bridging the gap between quality healthcare education and industry workforce requirements. This collaboration further strengthens MSF’s commitment to expanding access to quality vocational education, with a long-term goal of skilling 50,000 students by 2030 and creating a strong pipeline of industry-ready professionals.
Speaking on the partnership, Aashman Sarin, Director and Founding Member, Monica Sarin Foundation, said “Our focus is to create opportunities for the Indian youth through structured education and industry aligned skill development. With this association with Mangalayatan University, we are strengthening access to quality vocational training in Allied Healthcare for an Advance Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology. Our efforts will enable students to become future ready and benefit from industry-relevant skills, recognized qualifications, and pathways for long-term employment.”
Commenting on the association, Mrs Meenakshi Bisht, Head of Department, Paramedical Institute of Vocational Education (PIVE), Mangalayatan University, said, “This association is a meaningful step towards strengthening allied healthcare education and creating new opportunities for young learners. We look forward to working closely with Monica Sarin Foundation to equip aspiring healthcare professionals with industry-ready skills and successful career pathways.”
First session commencing from July 2026, MSF in affiliation with Mangalayatan University, will offer an Advance Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (ADMLT) program. The program has been introduced at a time when the healthcare sector is experiencing a growing demand for trained AHPs and the government is focusing on the expansion and strengthening of AHPs’ education system. As the Vocational Training Partner (VTP), MSF works toward empowering students through ADMLT program classes conducted at their premises with curriculum, academic single point of contact, and assessment overseen by the university.
MSF is offering 10 seats free of cost to select candidates, enabling students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue quality Allied Healthcare education and build sustainable careers. The ADMLT program will combine classroom-based learning with laboratory training and industry-oriented internships at hospitals and laboratories, equipping students with recognized qualifications, practical skills, and hands-on clinical exposure. MSF will further facilitate placement drives to connect students with employment opportunities across hospitals and diagnostic centres.
The initiative is designed to expand access to healthcare careers for young women and first-generation learners who may otherwise face barriers to higher education and formal employment. By combining affordable vocational training with industry-relevant skills and career pathways, the program aims to empower learners to pursue sustainable livelihoods in the healthcare sector.
One such aspiring healthcare professional is Anita Rawat, a student of the program, who hopes to build a career in medical laboratory technology and create a more successful future for herself and her family. Through the ADMLT program, students will gain access to structured training, practical exposure, and a recognized qualification that can help them achieve their professional aspirations. Anita shared, “Being able to pursue a professional training in healthcare is an important opportunity for me. Through this program, I hope to gain the skill, practical knowledge and confidence needed to build a stable career in medical laboratory technology and support my family.”
This initiative reflects MSF's broader vision to advance India’s skill development agenda by expanding access to vocational education and strengthen allied healthcare workforce in India, all the while creating a sustainable livelihood for the youth and women of India.
