New Delhi, November 06, 2026: OPPO India today announced Rohit Kumar from Jaipur as the winner of the OPPO x Discovery Filmmaker Accelerator Program (FMA). Rohit gained first-hand experience of professional production with the special film, ‘Together Makes It Diwali’. Shot on the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, the film brings together 4K Cine-Grade HDR Video capability and the next-generation LUMO True Image Engine to deliver true-to-life visual storytelling by preserving colour, depth and details.  

FMA: Discovering Promising Young Talent  

Launched in May 2026 in collaboration with Discovery under the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, the FMA identifies and nurtures emerging creators in India.  FMA marks the third year of OPPO x Discovery’s ‘Culture in a Shot’ initiative that celebrates cultural diversity through imaging technology.  

The 2026 contest theme 'Meet Culture Anew, Make Your Moment' captures culture as a living and evolving experience shaped through everyday moments of connection, creativity, and expression. Hundreds of entries were received, rooted in local stories, portraying how culture is lived, expressed and reimagined every day.  

Rohit stood out for his cinematic expression and his ability to find meaning in everyday moments. Having grown up in rural India, he began documenting his surroundings on a smartphone, developing a keen eye for natural light, landscapes and the details often overlooked in familiar places. A serious health scare also changed how he sees the world, making him more attentive to the small moments that are easy to take for granted. Through the programme, he got the opportunity to hone his skills and gain experience in professional filmmaking with the Diwali film.   

The Story Behind ‘Together Makes It Diwali’ 

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Jaipur, the narrative captures special moments as a lived experience through the story of three friends. The film opens with the familiar sights and sounds of Diwali, bustling markets, flower garlands, homes being lit up and the rush of people heading back to their families. For a young man spending the festival away from home, these little moments bring back memories of his own family’s celebrations.  

Noticing his longing for home, his two friends decide to recreate the family recipe, Kheer, turning to his mother for guidance over a video call. What follows is a heartwarming attempt filled with laughter, cooking mishaps and thoughtful gestures, as the friends bring a little piece of home to Jaipur. Through this story, the film celebrates how familiar traditions and the people around us can make any place feel like home. As the film closes, it leaves viewers with a thought: ‘Together Makes it Diwali!’

Beyond Technology: Enabling the Next Generation of Storytellers

The initiative reflects OPPO’s commitment to go beyond technology and create meaningful platforms for the upcoming creators. 

OPPO recently introduced the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, aimed at fostering mobile creativity and supporting emerging talent, particularly micro and nano creators. By combining talent discovery, mentorship and hands-on filmmaking opportunities, the programme aims to empower creators to explore mobile storytelling and bring their creative vision to life.

Rohit’s journey is a strong example of how the right exposure can help turn a passion into meaningful work. He was also awarded a cash prize of ₹5 lakh, the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, OPPO x Discovery certification and an opportunity for future collaboration with OPPO.
