Thiruvananthapuram, 28 October 2026: Oru Dose Mathi, a new Malayalam novel authored by UAE based Malayali writer Bandhura Sanalchandran was released here today. The novel was released by senior journalist and writer M B Santhosh at a function organized at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on Tuesday. Renowned artist and writer Karakkamandapam Vijayakumar accepted the first copy. Oru Dose Mathi is the debut novel by Bandhura Sanalchandran, who works as a nurse in Saudi Arabia.
Bandhura Sanalchandran’s novel narrates the experiences she encountered while working at a de-addiction centre. Her role as a nurse provided her with the opportunity to observe various facets of human life closely, which in turn prompted her to reflect on certain fundamental questions. The concept for Oru Dose Mathi hails from this thought, says Bandhura Sanalchandran, who hails from Kuttichal in the Thiruvananthapuram district.
The new novel represents an effort to translate her thoughts—and the realizations born from her experiences—directly into writing. Bandhura hopes that her first book will encourage readers to look beyond people's mistakes, acknowledge their pain, and embrace the hope of making a fresh start in life.
